Department of Communication and Journalism, Pune University is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and offers education in the field ofCommunication and Journalism. The course was made a one-year full-time degree course from July 1973. In the academic year 2003-04, the department introduced an English medium, part time post graduate Diploma in Journalism.
The department hosts a well-stocked library with some valuable reference books. The computer lab hosts several modern PCs with internet facilities for the use of faculty and research students. The department houses professional PD 170 ENG camera and Final Cut Pro video editing software for the production of news clips, interviews and features and also hosts a well-equipped audio studio for production of radio news bulletins and other radio programmes.
Admission rules: Candidates applying for any of the three courses (MJMC, Vruttapatravidya Padawika and Diploma in Mass Media) - 1. Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any faculty from a statutory University. 2. All candidates must appear for the Aptitude Test on the date specified in the admission notice. Admission is based strictly on merit in the Aptitude Test in their respective categories. The Aptitude Test comprises written examination and personal interview. Fees 1. For MJMC Course - Maharashtra students: Rs. 6200 per annum, Out of Maharashtra students: Rs. 10,800 per annum 2. Vruttapatravidya Padawika and Diploma in Mass Media (self-financed courses): Maharashtra students: (approx.) Rs. 5,100, Out of Maharashtra students: Rs. 8,500
