SPACE India, an organization dedicated to advancing science, space exploration, and technology observed the World Space Week (WSW-2023) and Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship to inspire, educate, and ignite passion for space sciences among students globally.
Starting on October 4, 2023, World Space Week unfolded as a series of events orchestrated by SPACE India. Aligned with the United Nations resolution, this year’s WSW focused on the theme “Space and Entrepreneurship,” recognizing the growing commercial space industry’s indispensable role. The events included the SAT From Trash Competition, National Astro-Toon Competition, and National Astro Video Podcast, stimulating curiosity and creativity among participants.
Dr Sachin Bahmba (CMD, SPACE India) expressed, “Events like WSW-2023 serve as catalysts for innovation and curiosity, prompting students to delve deeper into STEM fields and explore thriving opportunities within the commercial space industry.”
The results of the WSW-2023 competitions were announced in early November, celebrating the outstanding talent and creativity exhibited by the participants.
Concurrently, SPACE India organized the prestigious Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship, an educational event designed to spark students’ interest in science and astronomy. Dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. Abdul Kalam, the championship was hosted for schools associated with SPACE India.
Taking place on October 16, 2023, at Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka, the Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship saw enthusiastic participation from schools in the region. Divided into two categories for grades 6th to 7th and 8th to 9th, the championship fostered an inclusive platform for learning and discovery.
Avani Patwa (CEO, SPACE India) expressed pride in supporting young minds through the quiz championship, stating, “It not only cultivates a passion for space and astronomy but also encourages critical thinking and inquiry among students.”
The winners of the Dr. Kalam Quiz Championship 2023 demonstrated exceptional knowledge and dedication:
Category 1 (Class 6th – 7th):
- 1st Winner: ST. Martin’s Diocesan School, Delhi Cantonment, New Delhi
- 2nd Runner Up: Delhi Public School, Greater Faridabad
- 3rd Runner Up: Sri Venkateshwar International School, Dwarka
Category 2 (Class 8th – 9th):
- 1st Winner: Delhi Public School, Greater Faridabad
- 2nd Runner Up: K.R. Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri
- 3rd Runner Up: Bal Bharti Public School, Pitampura
