Former Minister for Human Resource Development and Science and Technology, Padma Vibhushan Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi delivered the 4th Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria Memorial Lecture on April 27, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.

The lecture was organized by Seth Anandram Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions to honour the legacy and memory of late Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria, an educationist, industrialist and philanthropist who is known for his significant contribution to nation-building through quality education, progressive industrial practices and social work.

The topic of the lecture was ‘Building A Sustainable Future Through Education’. Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi touched upon a wide range of relevant points for laying the roadmap to harness the power of education and create a sustainable future for all. He spoke about the vision enshrined in the National Education Policy 2020 and how the policy’s implementation in letter and spirit would help to transform education by introducing a new pedagogical structure, improving teaching standards, enhancing learning outcomes, and creating a culture of research and innovation. He said, “We need to focus on happiness index and sustainable consumption and ensure that we meet the needs of not just the present generation but also of the ones to come.”

Dr. Joshi also hailed the invaluable contribution of the Jaipuria family, particularly Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria, towards nation-building.

Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman of Seth Anandram Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions, delivered the welcome address in which he underscored the significance of education in building a sustainable future.

“I believe that of all the 17 SDGs, education is perhaps the only one that will have an all-pervasive positive influence on other sustainable goals. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for our education systems to become central to creating solutions to global problems, helping future generations and embracing global mindsets and skill sets. I also believe that India presently stands at important crossroads for becoming a leader in creating sustainable solutions,” Shishir Jaipuria said.

The vote of thanks was delivered by Yash Jaipuria, member of Seth Anandram Jaipuria Education Society.

The 4th Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria Memorial Lecture was attended by over 600 people, including educators, corporate guests, media members, and students.
