The Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Chandigarh was started in 1991 in Prayaas building, Sector 38, Chandigarh. It is presently housed in Sector 32 and hosts 4 blocks of hospital and a dedicated building for the college. GMCH Chandigarh offers under graduate and postgraduate courses in various streams of medical studies and has been consistently ranked among the top 25 medical institutions in India.
