On Thursday, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu revealed that a contingent of more than 100 teachers from Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for a transformative five-day educational excursion to Singapore. This undertaking, integral to a state-sponsored initiative, endeavors to acquaint educators with the latest advancements in the education sector, specifically focusing on “new technologies.” In the inaugural phase of the program, a carefully selected group of 102 teachers from various regions of the state is scheduled to depart for Singapore this upcoming Saturday.
During the official launch of the ‘International Tour for Teachers’ program, Chief Minister Sukhu articulated that this overseas trip serves as a unique opportunity for educators to immerse themselves in cutting-edge teaching methodologies and explore emerging technologies in the education landscape. To facilitate their journey, the Chief Minister personally handed out “foreign tour kits” to the participating teachers.
Underlining the government’s commitment to revitalize the education sector, Sukhu emphasized the significance of the Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools initiative, asserting that these establishments would evolve into premier educational institutions within the next decade. Furthermore, he announced a pivotal shift in the medium of instruction in government schools, with English being introduced from the upcoming academic session for students starting from class 1.
In addition to the ongoing program, Chief Minister Sukhu disclosed plans for a second batch of 98 teachers set to embark on an overseas educational tour on March 15. This strategic initiative aligns with the government’s concerted efforts to elevate the quality of education in the state, addressing longstanding concerns stemming from the perceived neglect by the previous administration. Sukhu assured that the government is diligently working to fill vacant positions in the education department on a priority basis, underscoring their commitment to fortify the foundation of education in Himachal Pradesh.
