Overview

Set up jointly by the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka in 1969 as a Food Craft Institute, the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), Bangalore is ranked among the best hotel management institutes in the country today. The institute is sited on a sprawling lush green campus in the heart of Bangalore. It was rechristened to its present name in 1983 and also started offering the 3 Year Degree in Hotel & Hospitality administration. Today, the institute is widely regarded as one of the premier institutes in the country to equip aspirants with the professional skills required for hospitality service. One of the most striking features of the institute is the cosmopolitan composition of its students.

Campus

IHMCTAN, Bangalore hosts food production labs which are fully equipped with all the required ingredients and latest equipments. There are two well equipped 40 seater training restaurants. The institute also offers well equipped automated laundry with facilities for training students in Guestroom Management The computer lab is equipped with 30 terminals on a LAN with latest multi-media systems and internet connectivity. The library is well stocked with latest books, periodicals, national and international journals covering all aspects of Hotel, Tourism, Hospitality, Travel and Management. The library also hosts multi-media resources enabling students to access internet and students are encouraged to access free E-mail facility.
