Overview

The Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), Chennai was promoted in 1963 jointly by the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Government of India. It offers three year diploma course in Hotel Management and Catering Technology and also in various Craft Certificate Courses of 6 months duration. Institute of Hotel Management, Chennai has provided high quality courses in Hotel Management and Catering for over 50years and boasts excellent rapport with the industry. IHMCTAN’s diploma holders are employed in India and abroad in management operations, consultancy, research and design with organizations of repute including multinational hotels, computer and leisure centers, independent restaurants, conference venues, and tourism departments.

Campus

IHMCTAN Chennai houses a well stocked library with more than 5,000 books, a state-of-the-art computer lab, besides five fully equipped kitchen/Bakery & Confectionary Department and a host of other facilities.

B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration – 3 years duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination Age: 22 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 2. Craftsmanship courses in a. Food Production – 1.5 years duration b. Food & Beverage Service – 24 weeks duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination. Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 3. Post Graduation Diploma in Accommodation Operation & Hospital Food Service – 1.5 years duration Eligibility: Graduate in any stream Age: 28 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 4. Post Graduate Diploma Course in Dietetics & Hospital Food Services – 1.5 years Eligibility: Graduate in Home Science/Nutrition Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 5. Certificate Course in Hotel & Catering Management – 6 months duration Eligibility: Passed in 10 + 2 or equivalent examination with minimum 2 years experience in a hotel/catering establishment or Graduate or 10 + 2 pass in Crafts Certificate course from a recognized institute. Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 6. Diploma Course in Food Production – 1.5 years duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination. Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 7. Diploma Course in Bakery & Confectionery – 1.5 years duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination. Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 8. Diploma Course in Front Office – 1.5 years duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination. Age: 25 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. 9. Diploma Course in Food and Beverage Services – 1.5 years duration Eligibility: Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination. FOR ADMISSION TO FIRST YEAR OF 3-YEAR B.Sc DEGREE COURSE IN IN HOSPITALITY & HOTEL ADMINISTRATION UNDERNCHMCT& IGNOU: Admission to first year B.Sc degree course in Hospitality & Hotel Administration under NCHMCT & IGNOU is through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) followed by online counseling on merit, on an All India Level by National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Noida and IGNOU, New Delhi.
