Overview

Originally promoted by the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat as Food craft institute (a registered society) in 1972, the institute was upgraded in 1984 to the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition by the Ministry of Tourism (Govt. of India). IHMCTAN, Gandhinagar offers 3 year undergraduate degree program i.e., B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration.

Campus

The 6 acre IHMCTAN, Gandhinagar campus hosts world class infrastructure including spacious classrooms fully equipped with state of the art teaching aids, highly qualified faculty and administration, well-equipped labs and a well-stocked air conditioned library. The training facilities include specialized training kitchens and restaurants, bakery and confectionery labs, housekeeping lab and training guest room facilities, front office lab, computer lab with the latest technology and audio visual facilities.

Academics

IHMCTAN offers the Bachelor of Science program in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. It is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University.

General Information

Admission

Minimum qualification for admission is a pass certificate in the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with English as one of the compulsory subjects. Candidates appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE on provisional basis. Age Limit: For candidates from General and OBC categories, the upper age limit is 22 years as on July 1 of the year of admission. Fees: Rs 35,000 for the course + Rs.2000 caution deposit

IHMCTAN, Gandhinagar has been ranked among the top 20 hotel management institutes in India by the EducationWorld C-Fore survey 2014.
