K J S College of Science & Commerce announces PG Diploma in Solid Waste Management

Mumbai based K J Somaiya College of Science & Commerce recently announced the commencement of admissions for its one-year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Solid Waste Management programme which will commence from January 2019.

The course will be conducted with National Solid Waste Association of India (NSWAI) as the knowledge partner. NSWAI helps the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) in various fields of solid waste management. It makes policies and action plans to collect, process and compile a database on solid waste generation and management throughout the country.

NSWAI also promotes the development as well as use of clean technologies and the sharing of know-how. It provides a forum for exchange of national and international experience, expertise and information in the field of solid waste
management.

The objective of the course is to educate the participants in cutting-edge waste management technology, organisational and legislative developments, sustainable practices, financial problems and benefits of handling solid wastes.

Graduates from science, engineering, medical sciences and management streams (with a minimum of two years of work experience in Solid Waste Management) are eligible to enroll for the one-year course. The classes will be held during weekdays in the evening from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm and/or Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Course participants may be employed by government departments, urban local bodies – municipal corporations, private companies, NGOs, universities, research institutions, consultancies, aid agencies or international bodies such as WHO, UNICEF or UNDP.
