Kendriya Vidyalaya, at No. 1 GCF in Jabalpur, was founded in 1966 on a 13.5 acre plot by the Kendriya Vidyalaya regional office at Jabalpur. The present building was inaugurated in 1966 and the extension building was added in 1977.
The school is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education and prepares the students for the CBSE board examinations at the end of class X and XII. It also produces talented sportspersons in a wide variety of sports.
The school boasts a beautiful campus with abundant greenery; there are two play grounds and a separate playground for games like cricket, football, basketball and badminton.

An advertisement is issued by the Regional Office in the local newspapers in the first week of February providing the admission schedule.
Admission test is not conducted for classes I to VIII. Admission is granted on priority category system.
For admission to Class IX, an admission test is conducted, and a merit list prepared for each category of priority separately.
