A section officer at the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education faced suspension due to indiscipline after he wore shorts to the office and allegedly behaved improperly when staff objected to his attire.
According to Board Secretary Kailash Chandra Sharma, the officer, Rakesh Kumar Tekchandani, arrived at the office on Monday wearing a T-shirt and shorts, causing disturbance. When confronted, he reportedly misbehaved with colleagues. As a result, he was suspended. Sharma further explained that Tekchandani continued his disruptive behavior on Tuesday, entering the chamber of Director (Academic) Rakesh Swami and demanding an explanation for his suspension.
Police were called, and he was arrested for disturbing peace. Despite the scorching heat in Rajasthan, Tekchandani failed to provide a specific reason for his choice of attire. It’s worth noting that disciplinary actions against Tekchandani had been taken in the past as well. This incident has sparked debate among locals about the appropriate dress code for government offices, especially during extreme weather conditions.
Many argue that while comfort is essential, professionalism should not be compromised. Officials are expected to maintain decorum and adhere to workplace rules, regardless of external factors. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of discipline and respect in the workplace, regardless of one’s position.
