Overview

Saraswati Vidya Mandir (SVM) Rourkela was founded by the Hariyana Nagrik Sangh on July 4, 1982 with the main objective of imparting primary, middle and secondary school education for the population in and around west Odisha. An ISO 9001:2000 certified school, SVM Rourkela is recognized by the Government of Orissa and affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi.

The school imparts education to over 900 students from nursery to class X. SVM aims to “help the community with total commitment and discipline, creating dynamic personalities at minimum fees”.

Says a school spokesperson, “To cope with the present competitive scenario of science & technology, trade & commerce and culture & civilization, SVM ensures a perfect harmony and pledges to thrive with cent percent quality result in CBSE and we’ll keep on striving until our mission is attained.”

Campus

SVM Rourkela hosts a spacious campus with airy classrooms, contemporary science laboratories, an 864 sq. feet computer lab equipped with the latest facilities, a mathematics lab and a well-stocked library featuring about 6000 books.

The school offers playgrounds and gardens for outdoor games and a health club for physical health and hygiene. Outdoor sports include football, cricket, kabbadi, kho-kho, while indoor games comprise badminton, carrom, table tennis, chess, chinese checker etc.

Academics

SVM Rourkela is affiliated to CBSE and prepares students for the class X (AISSE) board exams. Continuous evaluation and tests are conducted as per the CCE pattern (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation). Four FA (Formative Assessments) and SA (Summative Assessments) are carried out during an academic session and the scores of all these assessments are considered for promotion to the next class.

Extracurricular: SVM offers a variety of co-curricular activities such as music, art & craft, dramatics, besides sports and games such as football, cricket, kabaddi, table tennis, chess etc.

Admission

Application forms for admissions to SVM can be downloaded from the school website. Candidates seeking admission are required to write an entrance test.

Students from outside Orissa need to produce a transfer certificate attested by relevant authorities of that state for admission to the school.

Achievement

SVM Rourkela has won several laurels in zonal, inter-state and inter-district competitions in kabaddi, kho-kho, football, cricket, carrom, chess, tabletennis, and badminton.
