The theme of the Conference was “Take care of our planet – preserve the environment” and 42 students and 12 teachers from 6 countries including Hungary, Germany, France, Netherlands, Slovenia and India, participated in the Conference.

The research innovations showcased included “Srijana” (Creation for the betterment of mankind) by Samara, Samaya and Sanjana Chauhan, “K- Paper” by Myra and “Green Cement” by Avishi Khar. “Srijana” entailed the creation of eco-friendly accessories like sanitary napkins, cosmetics, bracelets, bags, earrings, etc. representing the Indian tradition. The project aims to mitigate the impacts of climate change by lowering greenhouse gas emission. While project “Green Cement” showcased the usage of green cement, an efficient and eco-friendly building material, for a sustainable environment. It will also help in solving the problem of industrial waste disposal as the materials can be reused, and the carbon emission is reduced by 80%.”

Expressing her pleasure on the students’ participation in YRoNS- 2023, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, Chairperson, Amity International Schools, said, “It is a matter of immense pride and pleasure that our students participated in YRoNS-2023 and showcased their scientific temperament, knowledge and skills. We, at Amity, strongly believe that through scientific research and STEM projects, solutions to global challenges can be found and world problems can be addressed easily and innovatively. Amity strongly believes in nurturing the students by providing them various opportunities and platforms for global exposure, where not only scientific knowledge is imparted but cultural exchange is also a major focus area.”

Mrs. Jyoti Arora, Director Amity Educational Resource Centre (AERC), averred, “We are extremely grateful to our honorable Chairperson ma’am for providing Amitians such a great International Scientific and Cultural platform where students can be groomed to become the future leaders of the world. The YRoNS conference provides an opportunity to school students from different countries to present their research project on a particular theme, which enhances their critical and analytical skills by finding solutions from knowledge gained in classroom as well as information gathered naturally from their surroundings and environment.”

During the Conference, Amity students also got the opportunity to showcase the rich Indian art and culture by chanting and dancing on Sanskrit shlokas, performing classical Indian dances-Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi and depicting art forms such as Madhubani, Block Printing, Calligraphy and Mehndi art. At the end of the conference, Secretary of State for Climate Protection and the Environment, Rhineland-Palatinate states, Mr Michael Hauer, thanked the students for their participation in this international project and said that sustainable development must be tackled across borders. He awarded the certificates of participation to all the participants.

YRoNS, an annual International Conference, was initiated by Mr. István Sándor, Head teacher at Eötvös József Gimnázium in Budapest, in 2007. The Conference provides an international platform to the enthusiastic and innovative young researchers, from the age of 14 to 18, to exchange their ideas with their peer group across nations, to showcase their natural science research projects through oral presentations, to improve students’ language skills, to strengthen bonds between young people from different nations and to promote cultural exchange.  Visits to different countries develops an understanding of not only S&T endeavors but also the culture of various countries, across the world.
