Students at the Pinegrove school at Himachal Pradesh have emerged the winners of the Studentpreneur Awards 2023 by Shree Sarasswathi Vidhyaah Mandheer (SSVM) Institutions.
‘Studentpreneur Awards 2023’ provides students the platform to encourage their entrepreneurial spirit. The distribution of these awards is one of the key highlights of the 3-day ‘Transforming India Conclave 2023’ SSNM is organizing from September 1 at SSVM World School, Coimbatore.
Students, with no bar of age or educational background presented their business concepts or ideas along with a persuasive pitch presentation of which some are awarded.
Dr Manimekalai Mohan, founder and managing trustee of the SSVM Group said the awards and the conclave attempt to encourage students who come up with innovative, workable solutions that have a social impact.
“All schools agree to the fact that the focus is on student entrepreneurship in the contemporary world. With the NEP 2020 being implemented as well, skill development has been accorded great importance. Even if a child has received guidance at a school level, there is a need to give her the platform to showcase entrepreneurial skills. Hence the idea. Students as young as three or as old as 17 or 18 can present their ideas. This year, we received over 1,000 applications which were reviewed over a period of one month. While some students’ projects focused on recycling e-waste, some others ideated solutions for natural disasters such as a landslide and what the structure of a building must be to stay safe,” she said.
Through the initiative, projects of 15 groups of students have been shortlisted.
