Teachers’ Day 2022: President to confer National Awards to Teachers

September 5, 2022

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day 2022, which will be celebrated on September 5, 2022, President of India Draupadi Murmu will confer the National Awards to Teachers 2022 to 46 teachers in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi at 11 am. Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash award of 50,000 and a silver medal. Among the 46 teachers who have been selected for the National Awards to Teachers, two teachers, one from Andaman and Nicobar Islands and another one from Uttarakhand will be awarded under the Special Category for differently-abled teachers.

The Prime Minister will also interact with winners of the National Awards to Teachers, 2022 today, according to his office.

“On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the winners of National Awards to Teachers, 2022 at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg on September 5, 2022 at 4:30 pm,” it said.

The PM also greeted teachers who spread the joys of education among young minds and paid homage to former president S Radhakrishnan on his birth anniversary.

“Greetings on Teachers’ Day, especially to all the hardworking teachers who spread the joys of education among young minds,” Modi said in a tweet.

“The purpose of National Awards to Teachers is to celebrate and honour the unique contribution of some of the finest teachers in the country who through their commitment and hard work have not only improved the quality of school education, but also enriched the lives of their students,” a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The National Awards to Teachers accord public recognition to meritorious teachers working in elementary and secondary schools.

For the award this year, 45 teachers from across the country were selected through a rigorous and transparent online three-stage process. The awards will be conferred to honor those teachers who through their commitment and industry have not only improved the quality of school education but have also enriched the lives of their students.

Every year on Teachers Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has been organizing the national level function to confer the National Awards to Teachers to the best teachers in the country.

The winners of the National Awards to Teachers 2022 are selected through a rigorous transparent and online three-staged selection process.
