Three girls near Mangaluru suffer severe facial burns in an acid attack

In a distressing incident at a government pre-university college in the taluka headquarters town of Kadaba, Dakshina Kannada district, three female students faced a traumatic episode when an unidentified youth, donned in a mask and cap for concealment, threw acid on them. The unfortunate incident unfolded while the girls were engrossed in their preparations for the Pre-University Course (PUC) exams within the college corridors.

Following the attack, the victims were expeditiously transferred to a private hospital for specialized treatment. The severity of the burn injuries prompted the attending doctors at Kadaba government hospital to recommend shifting them to Mangaluru for more comprehensive medical care.

The alleged assailant, identified as Abin and reportedly hailing from the neighboring Kasaragod district in Kerala, attempted to evade capture after the attack. However, alert eyewitnesses promptly intervened, chasing him down and apprehending him before turning him over to the authorities.

The local police in Kadaba are actively engaged in the investigation, seeking to unravel the details surrounding this heinous act. The incident has raised concerns and highlighted the urgent need for addressing issues related to safety and security, especially within educational institutions.
