Of late they have become very popular with parents as a go-to natural remedy for common childhood ailments. Here are best essential oils for children and their therapeutic benefits.

Eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus oil alleviates respiratory illness. During a bout of cold and flu, parents can administer children diluted eucalyptus oil massage or use a drop for inhalation through a diffuser. It provides immediate relief from congestion and eases breathing.

Chamomile oil. Apply diluted chamomile essential oil to the abdomen in a clockwise motion to alleviate digestive discomfort in children. This natural remedy eases stomach ailments.

Lavender oil. Lavender oil promotes restful sleep. Parents should apply a few drops of it on a child’s pillow or use in a diffuser to create a calming ambience. It helps children unwind and drift into a peaceful slumber.

Tea tree oil. This is renowned for its antimicrobial and immunity boosting properties. It fights infections, prevents growth of bacteria and multiplication of viruses and boosts the immune system. Put a drop of tea tree oil on a handkerchief and ask children to breathe in and out.

Sweet orange oil. This harnesses the power of citrus to relax and uplift mood and mental well-being. Add a drop to a diffuser or homemade spray, and the calming aroma of sweet orange will create a positive and calming atmosphere, enhancing children’s emotional well-being.
