January 18, 2024

Simplilearn, a prominent provider of digital skills training, has released a report titled “Safeguarding the Digital Frontier – Cybersecurity Trends and Upskilling Outlook for 2024,” emphasizing the escalating demand for robust cybersecurity measures in an era dominated by digital transactions. The report highlights the critical role of cybersecurity in protecting infrastructure and sensitive data from evolving cyber threats. With digital transactions on the rise globally, Simplilearn aims to address the imperative need for cybersecurity skills, equipping professionals to effectively navigate and mitigate cyber threats.

The report underscores the significant global impact of cybercrimes, projecting a staggering cost of $10.5 trillion by 2025. It emphasizes the heightened consumer risks resulting from the increased frequency of personal data breaches, amplifying concerns about fraud and identity theft.

In India, the surge in digital transactions, spurred by demonetization, has transformed the cybersecurity landscape. With over 16 lakh cybercrime incidents reported in the last three years, the need for robust cybersecurity measures is more pronounced than ever. Financial fraud, accounting for 77.41% of reported cybercrimes, stands out as a major concern.

To combat the escalating global cyber threats, there is a growing demand for qualified cybersecurity professionals who can stay ahead of evolving vulnerabilities. Forecasts indicate a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.8% in the global cybersecurity market from 2023 to 2030, highlighting the necessity for a skilled workforce capable of countering changing threats.

Simplilearn has actively responded to this demand by offering specialized cybersecurity programs through collaborations with leading academic institutions and industry organizations. The platform has witnessed a significant 25% year-over-year increase in learner interest, indicating a global trend toward prioritizing digital security education.

Some of Simplilearn’s popular cybersecurity programs include the Advanced Executive Program in Cyber Security with IIITB and NPCI, focusing on insights into building secure payment systems at scale, and the Professional Certificate Program in Cyber Security with IITK, concentrating on offensive security measures to safeguard servers and data centers against external threats.

Kashyap Dalal, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Simplilearn, emphasized the critical role of cybersecurity amid the surge in cybercrime, noting that cybersecurity and AI are the top two domains witnessing high demand for skill development. He highlighted the success of programs with IIITB, NPCI, and IITK in India and a Cyber Security Bootcamp with Caltech in the United States.

In conclusion, the dynamic nature of cyber threats necessitates a global effort to bolster cybersecurity measures. Qualified professionals equipped with comprehensive training, such as those provided by Simplilearn, play a crucial role in meeting the surging demand for skilled leaders in this high-growth field.
