Hans Raj College, located on Delhi University’s North Campus, was founded in July 26, 1948 by the DAV Managing Committee in memory of Mahatma Hans Raj, founder of DAV College, Lahore. The DAV family comprises more than 700 institutions and Hans Raj College is one of the largest constituent colleges of Delhi University. Hans Raj College caters to more than 5000 students with about 175 teachers and an almost equal number of non-teaching staff on its rolls.


The 500-seat college auditorium is air-conditioned and equipped with professional audio, lighting and digital projection systems. The seminar room, with a seating capacity of 120, is also equipped with sound and projection systems. The college has six computer and 18 science laboratories with LCD projectors. The library comprises four sections: the main library, individual departmental libraries, the periodicals and the textbook sections. Together, the library displays a collection of more than 1, 35,000 titles and about 98 periodicals published in India and abroad. The college has a huge sports ground and a basketball court besides an indoor badminton court and a state-of-the-art indoor shooting range. The college canteen accommodates approximately 150 students. ATM and banking facilities of Canara Bank are also available on campus.

For admission in B.A. /B. Sc, minimum percentage of marks required is 40% of the aggregate at any of the examinations recognized by the DU. For admission to B.A. (Honors)/ B.Com (Honors)/ B.Sc. (Honors) Mathematics, minimum percentage of marks required is 45% in the aggregate at any of the examinations recognized by the DU. However, for admission to B.Sc.(Honors) Mathematics, the candidate should have passed in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with 50% marks in Mathematics. For admission to B.Sc. (Honors), minimum percentage of marks required is 50% in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology for admission to Botany/Zoology (Honors) and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for admission to Physics/Chemistry/Electronics (Honors) in any of the examinations recognized by the DU. The candidate should also have passed in all the subjects included in the aggregate. Admission to 5 year integrated M.Sc. Earth Science will be conducted by the Department of Geology and Hans Raj College. Subjects like, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be taught in Hans Raj College of Delhi University.
