Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar jointly inaugurated the first phase of the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-SHRI) scheme, unveiling 124 schools across the state. During the event organized by Haryana’s school education department in Rohtak, Pradhan emphasized that these PM-SHRI schools will provide a modern, 21st-century education. He expressed confidence that this initiative will elevate the standard of education in Haryana.
Pradhan also praised the state’s remarkable efforts in the education sector, highlighting its emergence as an educational leader in the country. He acknowledged the new education policy’s positive impact on students’ overall growth, with a focus on skill- and technology-based education and the use of the mother tongue.
In this initial phase, Rs 85 crore has been allocated by the central government for the establishment of 124 PM-SHRI schools, according to Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal. The PM-SHRI scheme’s goal is to enhance students’ cognitive development and foster well-rounded individuals with 21st-century skills.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Khattar announced that the 4,000 playway schools in the state will now be recognized as ‘Bal Vatika’ Schools. The government also plans to establish additional schools, converting Anganwadi centers into educational institutions that incorporate sports and play to provide a holistic education.
