Established in 1984 as the Food Craft Institute, the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition (IHMCTAN), Guwahati offers training in hotel management, catering technology, and general food management. It was established under the aegis of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India and is affiliated with the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology (NCHMCT), Noida.
IHMCTAN Guwahati campus hosts laboratories with the latest facilities for practical training, eight well equipped kitchens, bakery and confectionary, a well planned restaurant for basic F & B learning, and a well stocked library with a stock of 10,000 new and old books which are available for reference and lending to the students. Other facilities include well-equipped computer laboratory, well equipped air conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 400 students, a well furnished board room/conference room, laundry and medical room.
Minimum Qualification: Minimum qualification for admission is a pass certificate in the final examination of 10+2 system or its equivalent. The candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination. Those appearing in 10+2 final or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE for being considered on provisional basis. Physical Fitness: All qualified candidates are required to submit a certificate of physical fitness from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given in the Information Brochure.
