Spread over 1250 acres, the IARI campus hosts laboratories, staff quarters, hostel, guest house, health centre, sports facilities, an auditorium and faculty club. IARI houses the largest and the finest agrobiological libraries in South East Asia with a collection of 6,00,000 publications that includes 1,00,000 books/monographs, 3,50,000 journal volumes, 45,000 bulletins, 15,000 post graduate thesis, 10,000 pamphlets, 30,000 news clippings, 30,000 reports, and other reference materials. The library serves 2000 members who comprise of students, scientists, and technical staff; it also has about 8,000 visitors every year. The Library functions as the depository of FAO, IDRC and AVRDC publications and also as the National Depository for CGIAR institutes publications. The National Microbial, Nematode and Insect Collections and Conservation Facility has more than 6000 specimens and a National Pusa Insect Collection of more than 5,00,000 insect specimens, Indian Type Culture Collection of Fungi of more than 3300 live fungal cultures, a National Collection of Nematodes, National Rhizobial Collection and a large germplasm collection of food, fodder, vegetable and fruit crops. The Quality Seed Facility is envisaged to provide medium-term storage for 4.5 tonnes of authentic seed samples of all released varieties from the National Agricultural Research System. The campus also has the Central Seed Testing Laboratory, a Facility for Protective Agricultur. The Pesticide Referral Laboratory generates globally acceptable data for export certification and International trade and has participated in International and National Proficiency Testing Programs. Phytotron Facility has an area of 2700 m2 with 22 growth chambers and 10 greenhouses, the facility studies live responses of plants under controlled conditions and impact of climate change and greenhouse gases. Other facilities include a fully air-conditioned ASRB online Examination Centre, equipped with 120 desktops along-with its latest accessories, uninterrupted power supply (power backup from one 20KVS UPS and one Generator), two LED screens etc.

IARI was awarded the First Prize for doing maximum writing work in Hindi for the year 2011- 12 under the ICAR ‘Rajrishi Tandon Rajbhasa Puraskar Yojna’ and Second Prize for Institute’s Annual Rajbhasa Patrika ‘Pusa Surbhi’ under ‘Ganesh Shankar Vidhyarathi Hindi Krishi Patrika Puraskar Yojna’ of ICAR for the year 2011-12 during the Director’s Conference organised on March 19, 2013. The institute won the Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award for the year 2010 (jointly with TNAU, Coimbatore) for outstanding contribution in the field of agricultural research, education and extension. IARI also received the Environment Leadership Award of ‘Agriculture Today, 2011’ for its pioneering work on development of sustainable agriculture, protection of environment, mitigation and adaptation to climate change and environmental policy planning for the benefit of farming community. IARI was conferred the Quality Management System Standard Certificate, NS-EN ISO 9001: 2008 / ISO 9001:2008 of KVQA for providing education, research and training in the field of agriculture and the Agriculture Leadership Award 2009 by a national agriculture magazine, "Agriculture Today" for helping the country attain and maintain self-sufficiency in food grains and for improving the economic conditions of Indian farmers. IARI also received the Best Annual Report Award 2008-2009 of ICAR in the category of big institutes. The Institute’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Shikohpur was given the ICAR Best KVK Award.

Accommodation

IARI has five hostels for Boys (Hemant, Vasant, Shishir, Grishm and Sharad), one for Girls (Varsha) and one Saraswati Apartment for married students. The hostels are spacious and well equipped with recreational facilities including TVs, indoor games, book shop, hair dressing saloon and hygienic food at the mess. Each hostel has its own wardens, a member of faculty who administers the hostels. Master of Halls of Residences is the head of the hostel facility in the campus.
