The K. P. B. Hinduja College of Commerce was established in 1974 by the Late Shri Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja with 400 students and 12 faculty members. Currently there are 6,100 students and 105 staff members on its muster rolls. The college began with a single commerce course and today it offers 25 courses from the higher secondary up to the doctorate level.
The institution functions under the guidance of the Hinduja Foundation, which is a part of the Hinduja Group that was established in 1914.
The KPB college library has more than 26,800 books, important journals and periodicals besides books of general interest. There are three well-equipped computer laboratories with 145 computers and 12 printers (two colour laser jet, one colour inkjet, five all in one laser jet and four laser jet printers). One LCD television and two LCD screens are used during interactive sessions with the students of the various courses.
The electronics lab is equipped with all the latest accessories for the study of microprocessors and embedded systems. It is equipped with useful circuits with full description, diagram PCBs and manuals. The college also has a gymkhana, canteen and health center.

The Junior College offers eight divisions of standards XI and XII in commerce including two divisions of information technology and mathematics.

Junior College
Students seeking admission to the junior college must have passed the S.S.C. examination in Maharashtra. Other students who have passed I.C.S.E., Central Board or any other equivalent examination have to produce an eligibility certificate from the H.S.C. Board, Greater Mumbai for consideration for admission.
Senior College
Undergraduate Courses
Candidates should have passed class XII examination of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent and secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate at (40% in case of reserved category). Every candidate admitted to the degree course in the constituent/affiliated college/recognized institution conducting the course shall have to register with the university.
Postgraduate Courses
For admission to M.Com, M.A.C.J and M.A., in Public Relations, a candidate should have passed graduation in any discipline. Admission to the course offered by the rules framed by the Mumbai University from time to time and will be given at the commencement of the first year.
For Ph.D in Trade and Transport, the candidate should have passed masters degree or equivalent from any recognized university.
