MBBS students to complete course within 9 years

NMC informed that no students will be informed to have more than four attempts in their first year (MBBS) and no student will be allowed to continue undergraduate program after 9 years from the date of admission in direction of the following course.

Further, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has stated “there shall be common counseling for admissions to graduate courses at all medical institutions in the country on the basis of the NEET-UG merit list”.

NMC on the 2nd of June gazette that under no circumstances will a student be given more than four attempts in his four years and a student cannot continue his undergraduate program more than 9 years from the date of admission in the designated course.

As per the Compulsory Rotating Medical a student admitted into a graduate medical program will not hold to be graduated until he completes his rotating internship.

The gazette further divulged that without prejudice to anything stated in the present regulations or any other directives by the NMC, the graduating courses will have a common counseling in order for admission in medicine for all medical institutions in on the merit list of the NEET-UG which are India based.

Counseling to be based on NMC provided seat Matrix, provided the common counseling may have multiple rounds. A designated authority will be appointed for the counseling along with deciding and notifying its methods for the undergraduate seats. 

Guidelines for the conduct of common counseling to be published by The Under-Graduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) , and the delegate authority under section 17 will conduct the counseling in bestowal with the published guidelines. 

Further it was added that none of the medical institute should admit any candidate to the Graduate Medical Education (GME) course in violation of these rules and regulations, NMC informed.
