NiBS Anubhav: Diverse internships and inspiring IDEAS Convention

The Anubhav Programme, encompassing Making Informed Choices and IDEAS (Inspiring Dreams of Excellence, Achievement, and Service), is geared toward providing senior school students with a practical exposure to the ‘real world,’ intending to instill vital skills such as accountability and a robust work ethic. This holistic program orchestrates internships, workshops, thought-leader sessions, career counseling talks, and a university fair, all aimed at enriching students’ educational journey.

Making Informed Choices and Internships:
Under the Making Informed Choices segment, all Class XI students actively participated in summer internships, a hands-on learning opportunity designed to facilitate networking, build crucial professional connections, and cultivate a strong work ethic. The program commenced with a briefing session at school, where the internship structure was shared, and student choices based on their interests and subject preferences were collated. Pre-internship sessions with partner organizations were conducted, ensuring students were well-prepared for their roles. Throughout the internships, teachers diligently monitored student engagement and gathered feedback from the organizations on their performance.

This year’s summer internships featured collaborations with various esteemed partner organizations, each contributing to a diverse array of work areas:

Workshops and Interactive Sessions:
Throughout the academic year, various workshops were conducted for students and parents. Notable instances included interactions with representatives from Pratham Test Prep and Career Launcher for Classes IX, X, XI, and XII. Students from Classes IX to XII participated in a session on Sustainable Designing, conducted by industry experts from the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD).

An Indo-Global Unifest, held in collaboration with Dwarka City Newspaper on the school campus, provided a unique opportunity for parents and students of Classes X to XII to meet and interact with delegates from top Indian and international universities.

A career fair, organized in association with GenNext Career Guidance & Counselling for students of Classes XI and XII, featured Mr. Girish Ballola, CEO & Founder of GenNext Education. This session familiarized students with various global career opportunities and was followed by an interactive session with university representatives from Penn State University, USA, Jacobs University, Germany, University of New Mexico, USA, and Vidyashilp University, India.

IDEAS Convention:
The annual IDEAS (Inspiring Dreams of Excellence, Achievement, and Service) Convention, scheduled from November 30th to December 2nd, 2023, was a highlight of the academic calendar. This impactful event was divided into four distinct segments, each with specific focus areas:

  • Dare to Dream: Talks by eminent Thought Leaders about their life experiences, career choices, and associated skills.
  • Making Informed Choices: Extended Career Counselling Support that included aptitude testing and individual counseling sessions with both students and parents.
  • The Road Map: Setting up a University Fair that included both national and international colleges, providing exposure to a variety of disciplines offered globally.
  • My Udaan: Alumni Speak; a session where NiBS alumni were invited to share anecdotes of their journeys with the present students.

The Convention was inaugurated by Major General Vikram Dev Dogra, AVSM, who delivered the keynote address. Notable luminaries from various fields, including Mr. Deep Kalra, Founder and Chairman of MakeMyTrip, Ms. Sutapa Basu, author, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, chef at Shangri-La Hotel, Mr. Amit Dubey, National Security Expert, and the dynamic duo of Mr. Dev Ashish Aneja and Mr. Mudit Narain discussing climate, technology, and policy, addressed the students during the Dare to Dream segment.

As part of Making Informed Choices, and to provide students with deep and reflective insights into career choices and planning, Dr. Amrita Dass, Founder-Director of the Institute of Career Studies, addressed both students and parents. Mr. Prikshit Dhanda, Director and Chief Strategy Officer at Mindler Education, spoke to children on the importance of choosing their subjects carefully.

The highlight of the three-day event was undoubtedly the My Udaan segment, where NiBS Alumni engaged with senior students in a panel discussion, adding a personal touch to the convention and providing invaluable insights into life beyond school. The IDEAS Convention successfully achieved its goal of inspiring students to dream big, make informed choices, and excel in their pursuits.
