The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said that around 1 lakh people are being vaccinated daily but the vaccination stock with them will just last for another 5-6 days. He added that Delhi required around 3 crore vaccinations for all people, while only 40 lakh doses have been received. The CM also urged the Central government to sanction doses for children below 18 years of age.
Speaking on the occasion, the Delhi CM stated that 100 schools are being administered with these vaccinations daily and around 1 lakh people are also being given the same. “We are planning to expand it to 250 to 300 schools and ramp up the vaccination to 3 lakhs per day,” said Kejriwal.
CM Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also examined a vaccination centre in Delhi’s Chirag area at Sarvodaya Girls Senior Secondary School. The ministers also spoke with the recipients who were present there. “The people are visibly happy with the arrangements made by the government,” added Kejriwal.
If the Delhi government received the required number of vaccinations from the Narendra Modi-led Central government, they would then be able to vaccinate all people residing in the capital city by three months. The CM later added that they would probably need more doses as people from National Capital Region (NCR) were also coming to get these jabs.
