Overview

The College of Engineering, Andhra University (AU) was founded by Dr.C.R. Reddy and boasts an eventful history that dates back to 1946 when the Government of Composite Madras State approved the current Engineering College at Visakhapatnam. After its inception, the college was situated in Cocanada, or Kakinada, but after the Andhra State was carved out in 1953, the Department of Engineering with Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering sections came into being as part of Andhra University. In 1960, it moved to a 167-acre campus, which is now the North campus of Andhra University. The revamping of university colleges saw the emergence of Andhra University College of Engineering in 1960. The AU College of Engineering is today an ISO 9001:2008 certified, autonomous institute of higher education offering 17 under graduate and 42 post graduate programs. According to a college spokesperson, “The college has been able to secure 100 percent placement for its outgoing batches in the past few years”.
