SPRAWLED ACROSS TWO CAMPUSES in Switzerland, a country internationally reputed for its hospitality education tradition, the top-ranked Glion Institute of Higher Education (GIHE, estb. 1962) offers undergraduate and postgrad study programmes in hospitality management to 1,619 students from over 90 countries. In 2013, GIHE was ranked among the top three hospitality management schools worldwide by TNS, a London-based global research consultancy. The institute prides itself on its excellent placement record with 85 percent of graduates receiving multiple job offers on graduation day. Montreux. Sited on Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, Montreux (pop.25,000) is a world-famous resort town bordering the Glion campus. Well-known for its jazz and classical music festivals, Montreux offers many attractions including the Lavaux vineyards (a Unesco World Heritage site), Chillon Castle, and the old city of Vevey dotted with historical monuments and museums. There are excellent facilities for a variety of summer and winter sports. In the evenings, there™s a multitude of choices between clubs, bars, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and concerts. Montreux is 25 minutes by road or rail from Lausanne and an hour from Geneva.

Bulle. Thirty minutes from Montreux is the town of Bulle, which hosts GIHE’s largest campus. Located in the heart of Gruyere, a region famous for its tourist attractions and culinary specialties including gruyere cheese, Bulle (pop.20,824) offers a selection of restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shopping and boutiques. Bordering the university town of Fribourg, Bulle is only 30 minutes from Bern, the capital of Switzerland.
Public transport and connections to major airports and railway stations link both campuses. Switzerland has a temperate continental climate with winter temperatures dipping to -5°C and summer temperatures averaging 30°C.

Campus facilities. GIHE has two campuses ” Glion and Bulle. Sited directly above Montreux in the village of Glion, the eponymous campus overlooks Lake Geneva with superb vistas of the Swiss and French Alps. Offering all of GIHE’s undergraduate programmes, the Glion campus features a hotel-school environment enabling hands-on education. Facilities include 16 classrooms, two fully-equipped computer laboratories, a quick service restaurant, a brasserie, formal dining, The Club (a recreation space for students), fitness centre, and sports hall.

A 30 minutes™ drive from Glion is the Bulle campus which houses GIHE™s MBA and postgrad and undergraduate students for the last two years of their study programmes. The largest campus of GIHE, Bulle facilities include 16 classrooms, three study rooms, library, a self-service restaurant, lobby bar, and TV lounges. Students who reside in shared apartments also have access to an indoor rackets sports club for tennis, badminton, table tennis and squash.

GIHE’s London campus is hosted by Roehampton University, an hour by train from the city™s central business district. Glion London students benefit from the full services and facilities of Roehampton University including a library with 350,000 volumes, on-campus accommodation, restaurants, and stores.

Admission. For admission into the bachelor’s degree programmes, applicants must be 18 years of age and should have completed Plus Two. For the diploma programme, the minimum age requirement is 17 years and a secondary school-leaving certificate. For postgraduate programmes (MBA and MS), a bachelor’s degree preferably in tourism, hospitality, events management or business, is required. Moreover, all applicants must demonstrate proficiency of English. A TOEFL minimum score of 500 or Cambridge First Certificate Exam Grade C or IELTS score of 5 is acceptable. Admission decisions are based on applicants™ academic records, work experience if any, extracurricular activities, test scores and recommendations.

Accommodation. On-campus housing is offered to overseas students on the Glion and Bulle campuses. Dining, laundry and recreational facilities are provided.

Glion Hotel School. Diploma in hotel and restaurant operations (1.5 years); associate degree in hospitality administration (2 years); bachelor degree in hospitality management (3.5 years); postgraduate diploma in hospitality administration (1.5 years); postgraduate higher diploma in hospitality management (2 years)

Glion Leisure Management School. Bachelor of business administration degree in events, sports and entertainment management; bachelor of arts degree in international events management, international sports management, events, sports and entertainment marketing and communication management (3.5 years). The school also offers postgraduate diploma programmes in events, sports and entertainment administration or in sports administration and postgraduate higher diplomas in events, sports and entertainment management or in sports management (1-2 years)

Glion Graduate School. MBA in international hospitality and services management with leadership or marketing (1 year); Master of science in international hospitality finance, online MBA and postgraduate certificate/diploma programmes in international hospitality.
