Overview

Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli situated in the heart of Tamilnadu on the banks of river Cauvery, was promoted as a co-operative venture of the Government of India of and the Government of Tamilnadu in 1964 with an aim to cater to the technological man-power needs of the country. The college has been conferred with autonomy in financial and administrative matters and subsequently was granted Deemed University Status with approval of the UGC/AICTE and Government of India in 2003 and was re-christened as National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT-T). It has been ranked among the top five engineering institutes in India, excluding the IITs, by leading education surveys conducted annually. The college boasts 100 percent placement of graduate students, over 90 percent placement of postgraduate students, highest domestic salary of Rs. 23 lakh per annum and highest overseas salary of Rs. 40 lakh per annum.

Campus

The college campus sprawls over 800 acres hosting hostel facility, hospital, post and telegraph, telecom centre, fully computerized State Bank of India branch with ATM facility, book stall, reprography center, canteen, swimming pool, and co-operative stores. The hallmark of the campus is the world class facilities which cater to the academics and extracurricular interests of the students. The octagon is the pride of the campus equipped with modern facilities including a CAD/CAM Lab, Local Area Network, a 10 mbps high speed internet connection and seminar and conference facilities.

General Information

Admission

Criteria for admission to the various courses offered by this institution are specific to the programme. Admission to B.Tech/B.Arch. programmes is based on performance in the class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination and Joint Entrance Examination (Main) score. For admission to MCA/MBA programmes, candidates with 60 percent marks in 3 year Bachelor’s degree programme from a recognized university are eligible to apply.
