Periyar University, Salem, one of the leading state universities of Tamil Nadu, has announced the launch of an online learning portal www.periyaedu.in which will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in multiple domains. Periyar University announced this as an initiative to expand its offerings in line with the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP2020).
According to the university these online degrees aim to provide online learning delivered by faculty of Periyar University and an opportunity to appear for the remote proctored exams from anywhere through https://periyaredu.in. The learning shall be a mix of live learning supplemented with course content, study guides, practice tests, discussion forums, recorded tutorials and gamified modules.
Through its learning portal periyaredu.in, the Periyar University will offer MBA, MSc in Mathematics, MA with specialisations in English and History and Masters in Commerce, periyaredu.in will also offer Bachelors of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts in English to aspirants looking to get into business management and literature as a domain, respectively.

Periyar University is a Public University founded in September 1997 through a special Periyar University Act 1997. Periyar University covers the area comprising four districts namely Salem, Namakkal, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu. Periyar University obtained 12(B) and 2(f) status from the University Grants Commission, New Delhi. It has been ranked 83 in the NIRF ranking of Universities and ARIIA 4 rank during 2020.
