Pune to host student parliament on January 10

Scheduled to take place from January 10 to 12 in Pune, the 13th Student Parliament of India is set to be a significant event, as announced by organizers on Wednesday.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra, the Ministry of Sports and Youth Welfare, and the UNESCO Chair for Human Rights, Democracy, Peace, and Tolerance, this conclave aims to foster a platform for youth engagement and political development.

The inauguration on January 10 will witness the presence of esteemed chief guests, including former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Member of the House of Lords in the UK Meghnad Desai, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, President of the University of Vermont Suresh Garimala, and others.

Described as the nation’s exclusive and largest training ground for nurturing future political leaders, the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad plays a crucial role in transforming the youth’s perspective on politics, political leaders, and democracy. Sunil Karad, Head of the School of Polytechnic & Skill Development at MIT -WPU, shared during a press conference that over 10,000 enthusiastic students from various colleges across the country are expected to participate in this parliament.

With its focus on shaping the attitudes of the youth towards political engagement, the Student Parliament serves as a vital platform for discussions and interactions that contribute to the development of future leaders. The participation of distinguished guests highlights the significance and relevance of this event in shaping the political landscape and fostering democratic values among the youth.
