On Tuesday, a special POCSO court sentenced a madrassa teacher to life imprisonment for raping an eight-year-old student. Special Judge Baburam, presiding over the case, also levied a Rs 50,000 fine on the convict, finding him guilty under Section 376 IPC and the POCSO Act.
The court directed the entire fine amount to be given to the survivor of the assault. Special government counsel Dinesh Sharma informed PTI that the trial concluded within a span of 40 days.
According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on September 22 when the girl was assaulted by her madrasa teacher, Irfan.
