Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), also referred to as NIT Nagpur, was earlier known as Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur and Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering (VRCE). Founded in 1960, VNIT Nagpur is one of the twenty National Institutes of Technology in the country ranked among the top thirty engineering colleges in India by leading education surveys conducted annually. In 2002, VNIT was conferred with the ‘Deemed to be University’ status by the Government of India. In 2007, it was also honoured with the title of ‘Institute of National Importance’. The institute boasts 218 teachers and 3100 students enrolled in its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Premier organizations and companies have been recruiting VNIT students through campus recruitment over the past few years, some of them being Siemens, Reliance, GM, GMR, Adani, Barclays, and Tata Motors. In 2007, VNIT was honored with the title of ‘Institute of National Importance’.
