The search for a good coaching centre to help him excel in his boards and competitive exams ended at a private to Rajasthan for a boy from Karnataka’s Bijapur. Karthik Manohar Simhasan’s decision was proved right when the boy bagged top ranks in the Common Entrance Test results that were announced on Thursday.
Karthik is the only topper among students under all categories of subjects in the top 10 to have studied from an institute outside the state.
He has secured rank 4 in the Bachelors of Yogic Sciences, 3 in BSc Agriculture, 5 in veterinary sciences, D Pharma and B Sc Nursing. In the NEET exams, the results of which were announced on Wednesday, this topper has secured rank 118 with a score of 705 on 720.
A native of Bijapur, Karthik’s parents advised him to move to Rajasthan after a cousin recommended a private coaching centre at Rajasthan for his training. Karthik backs his argument with the fact that the coaching centre has, over the years trained several toppers including the previous year’s NEET rank 1.
“Allen Career Institute in Kota has earned a repute for training students to ace. My parents insisted that I study there. I got admissions in Lady Anusuya Singhania Educational Academy, Jhalawar, Rajasthan for pre University,” he said.
Karthik who dedicated nearly five hours a day for self study said that his preparations were primarily focussed towards NEET even as he attempted other competitive exams to gain experience. “I even appeared for JEE besides KCET. My preparations were not focussed on bagging top ranks in these. My focus has always been on securing a medical seat,” said the students whose parents are doctors in Bijapur.
While his mother. Is a pathologist, Karthik’s father is an anesthesiologist. His sister, who he takes inspiration from is also an MBBS student. “Many in my family are in the field of medicine. That is a key motivation in itself,” he said.
